Who you gonna call? Flu Busters!

Mission: Oh Where, Oh Where, Has My Everything Gone?
Location: Sickbay

ON:

Jordan was reading a medical journal on the computer, trying to keep his focus on that and not on Qualt, who he was beginning to have second thoughts about after their previous encounter.

He was just trying to keep himself busy so he wouldn't have to think about much. Then a nurse stepped into his office and said, "You have patient, the new counselor, she appears to be ill."

"Show her in," he said eager both to treat someone and to have a legitimate distraction.

Gypsy just wanted to rest. She'd almost been eaten by a werewolf person and blown up by a needy shuttle. She'd gotten here in one piece and she seemed fine and then bam she started not being fine. If there was one thing that she hated it was being sick.

She'd had her things dropped in her quarters and then she headed out to medical. She'd grab a meal and hopefully be well enough for her meeting with the CO tomorrow.

"Good afternoon," Jordan greeted her as she entered. He was smiling because that was just part of who he was and it put the patient at ease.

The woman standing in front of him looked rather striking and was clearly not human. Just what species she was, was not clear.

"You must be new, or you just here for your physical, or are you sick?"

"Actually all of the above." She smiled back and said in her melodic voice. "I am the new Chief Counselor. I'm here for my onboard medical and I am feeling rather....under the weather."

"Ship's Counselor?" he asked with a raised brow, "well, first welcome aboard and secondly, I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Can you explain your symptoms to me?"

She sighed, "My skin has been itchy...I have been sneezing for the last two days, tired and I have a simmering headache." She smiled, "Thank you for the welcome. I am looking forward to meeting everyone."

"I'm sure everyone is eager to see you, though maybe not in your official capacity. You know how most Union officers feel about counselors. But that's a discussion for another day. Let's see if we can figure out what is wrong with you and fix it.

"Why don't you lay down here and we'll start running some scans?"

She gave a nod. "Okay." She hopped up on the biobed. "I must admit doctors make me nervous."

The left side of Jordan quirked up as his patient moved onto the bed. With a furrowed brow, he said, "But you're a counselor aren't you supposed to be trained in how to overcome such things?"

"Yes well...sometimes logic takes a...what do humans say... ah yes. Flying leap. I see a medical scanner and the counselor in me just takes a vacation."

Jordan did a poor job of stifling a smile."That is the correct human term," he replied, "but I promise I don't bite. Not until the third date anyway."

"Sorry, just a little attempt at humor. It's supposed to put the patient at ease. Is it working?"

"About as well as a court-martial." She deadpanned.

"How about this then," he said putting a hand on her shoulder for a brief moment "Let's take everything slow and I'll explain every step I take before I take it. Would that make you feel any better."

"That would help." She smiled.

"Good, because I'm not that good at flirting."

"So this is what we're going to do, I'm going to do some scans and see what the cause of your symptoms are. Then we are going to detrmine a cours of action to resolve the situation."

"How does that sound?"

She gave a nod. "What would be most helpful. Thank you."

The exam was quick and he did indeed speak his way through it. It did put her at ease and despite her first protests she was beginning to like the doctor.

Once the exam was over she sat up and smiled. "Well thank you doctor." The whole experience had not been as bad as she thought.
