Mission: Two Sides of Every Story
Location: UMS42 | Vorl | Deck Three | Captain's Quarters

"Oh you canno' be serious. Have ya they lost their fuckin' minds?!" shouted the hot headed Chief of Security. "Kalibrex Prime. They want us to go to Kalibrex prime in the middle of this damn Civil War?" added Murray seeking clarification. "Someone's gotta' be pullin' are legs."

Lieutenant Carmina Barbossa remained as calm and levelheaded as she could manage. She did not appreciate the Security Chief shouting at her, especially with the bitter scent of liquor on his breath. Clearly he had a late night of partying and his attempts to 'sober up' were still that...attempts.

"Ensign," she said diplomatically "When Union Central makes a decision and gives us a command we are expected to follow those orders to a t. We dot every I and cross every t to ensure those orders are authentic as you know as Security Chief" she reminded him. "And let's make something very clear here. Kalibrex is not in the middle of a Civil War" she added.

Murray scoffed at her. "Semantics, lass. Just semantics" he replied. "They are one the expressway to hell and a Civil War is right 'round the corner. Give it a few weeks and it will be" he stated assertively. "You know he's not going to like this one bit" added Murray with vigor in his voice. The he that Murray was referring to was Captain Cayne Morrigan, Commanding Officer of Union Mining Station 42.

Carmina glarred at the ensign. "He does not have to like it one bit, Murray. He just has to deal with it" she replied swiftly. "His hands are as tied in this as any of us. UMS42 was specifically requested for these negotiations" she said albeit the station was no where near Kalibrex Prime.

"So...how do ye plan on breakin' it to pops?" inquired Murray with his nickname for the greying silver fox that was the Commanding Officer. "He's asleep right now like I should be. You wake him up now and it's going to be like pokin' a sleepin' bear" he explained. "One typically does not respond well with 'Good morning, I know it's 0400, but we've been asked to fly into the heart of a civil war" added Murray sarcastically.

Lieutenant Barbossa shook her head. She hated when Murray did that. It was creepy and disrespectful on so many levels. "Can you just not. I mean seriously. Please don't....it's Captain, the Captain, Captain Morrigan, the boss...anything but 'Pops'" she said cringing at repeating what Murray had called him.

The Security Chief snorted. "Well, I like it and it's fitting. Trust me, it is better than the alternative. I was once in the Dead Canary and I may have had a bit too much to drink. The old man smiled and passed by me and I shouted out 'Hey Daddy' and let me tell you, all eyes were on me and the guy didn't even flinch. He walked right on out of there."

"Charming story, but I really do not care about your personal life, especially not THAT personal life, Ensign" replied Carmina. "Whatever your preferences and kinks are, keep them away from my duties as XO" she added.

The two of them stood in the corridor outside the Captain's quarters. Murray looked at her. He had nothing to say about her comments in regards to his personal life. "Well, do you want the honor of waking him or do you want me to be the one he shoots? Maybe I should get him some coffee ready and bring it before we wake him over this?"

Carmina groaned and sighed. She gave the younger Security Chief and shove, pushing on his shoulder and moving him aside. "You are such as 'Daddy's boy'" she said to him. "I'll do it" she added as she pressed the chime to the door.
