Mission: Oh Where, Oh Where, Has My Everything Gone?
Location: Shuttlebay 4

Tobias 'Toby' Flenderson sat in the backseat of the shuttle, his eyes groggy from sleep. Letting out a slight yawn, he opened his eyes and looked around- the shuttle was deserted with the exception of the two pilots who were bent over their consoles. Unbuckling his crash restraints, he stood up and stretched, accidentally pressing a button and causing the baggage compartments to release and sending them careening about as the shuttle banked to port.

Both of the pilots turned around and amidst the rapid screams of "What the hell?!" and "Come on!" Toby cringed a little and tried his best to pick up the luggage and containers that were now strewn about the aisle.

The lead pilot turned around and said sternly. "Get that crap off my deck before we land!"

Toby raised a finger as if to ask a question. "When do we land? You know, I don't want to end up-"

The pilot shook his head. "Five minutes. Now pick. Up. The. Luggage."

After what felt like an eternity of silence only punctuated by the sound of the luggage compartments clicking shut. Sitting down slowly, Toby sat back in his seat. The pilot turned around again and motioned. "Strap on that crash web, we've been cleared to land."

Giving a halfhearted thumbs up, Toby sat back in the chair and took a deep breath as the shuttle began to descend towards the blue tinged atmospheric containment field. As they passed through, Toby felt his hair stand on end. A moment later, the shuttle touched down on the deck with a [i]thump[\i] and the rear door opened with a whoosh and a metallic whir.

Touchdown! Was the thought that several others around her had had, but Carmina's thoughts were of who was arriving. There was no Second Officer yet assigned because Carmina herself was supposed to be the Second Officer; However, when the XO had a last minute change of assignment Carmina's orders changed.

She approached the landed shuttle to greet the individual or individuals being brought to the station. The latest communique seemed to indicate that it was one individual who would be reporting for duty. Carmina stood at the shuttle and patiently waited before the rear door opened and she began to approach.

"Welcome to Union Mining Station 42, I'm Lieutenant Carmina Barbossa, station's Executive Officer" she said pleasantly before reaching out to shake the man's hand.

Toby yawned as he turned sleepily to the woman who had greeted him. "Lieutenant Junior Grade Tobias Flenderson but you can call me Toby-" he reached out and shook the woman's hand warmly before he handed her a small datapad that contained his orders.

"Hello Toby" she said accepting the data pad and handed it back to him after inspecting it. It was good enough. He had official orders. The man was clearly not entirely awake or alert. Carmina looked to her left, to her right, and quickly 'checked' for anyone else on the shuttle boarding the station.

"Well...I don't see the other six dwarves, Lieutenant Flenderson" she said swiftly. "It appears as though you must be sleepy?" she inquired before transitioning into instructions. "A bit lagged from your travels? I believe Petty Officer Cross is acting as our temporary Quartermaster. Find her and she'll get you set up with some quarters....and do get some rest, Lieutenant" she added.

Toby yawned again. "Yes, ma'am." he said, working his jaw through the drowsiness. Picking up his bag, he stopped for a moment. "Where can I find this Petty Officer you're talking about?" he asked, slightly more alert.

"The station isn't terribly large, but it is split into three parts around the three asteroids" she replied initially. "Petty Officer Cross is usually on Oome on the third deck of that asteroid" she added. "Oome is where you'll find most Engineering and Operations personnel as well as the miners."

Carmina excused herself as she received a notification that she was needed elsewhere. "Pleasure to meet you, but if you'll excuse me we have a bit of a situation and I'm needed," she said politely. This is going to be a day she thought to herself.
